It worked just fine. But, I recommend you get Xubuntu instead, because it's faster than Ubuntu and also as easy to use. Every time theyu had issues with their pc's they would use mine (because it always worked!). Ubuntu was also the weapon of choice. The only minor annoyance is the inability to run a few precious games. Wine came (partly) to the rescue. It's interesting to note that I'm not slightly technically minded and was attracted to linux with the promise of no virus worries and the chance to resurrect older computers.
