Ubuntu, undoubtedly today's most popular Linux distribution has been around for 4 years. Its first official version was released in October of 2004. In the span of four years, Ubuntu has already unleashed 9 stable versions including the recently released Ubuntu 8.10 "Intrepid Ibex". I am still running Hardy with the default wallpaper but I used GIMP to put into grayscale. I really like the subdued desktop with that nice texture and bird.
Personally I think brown out of the box is fine, I ran one of the Vista wallpapers on Fiesty and confused the hell out of people, but I don't like people thinking I am running MS anymore.

Why does Ubuntu/Canonical go with brown then?
White, grey and blue are the colors to use...
I know it's easy to apply another theme, but it would be nice if the default Ubuntu theme would be a light one: clean, clear and crisp.
But, beauty is in the eye of the beholder....
